Lionel Messi is enjoying a positive period with Inter Miami after winning the Champions Cup against Mexican side Cruz Azul, securing a 2-1 victory and bringing his career trophy tally to 49.
Inter Miami currently sit third in the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 46 points, 11 points behind league leaders Nashville.
Messi is also preparing for what is expected to be his final appearance for Argentina, against Benin on October 6, following an international career that has brought him four senior international trophies, two youth titles and an Olympic gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Games.
However, journalist José Armando has revealed the current situation regarding Inter Miami’s reported discussions with Messi over a possible contract extension.
According to Armando, there are currently no negotiations underway over a new deal for Messi, whose existing contract expires in 2028. Although the agreement could potentially be modified, he indicated that it is still too early to make any changes at this stage.
Meanwhile, Messi has resumed training with Inter Miami as the club prepares for its MLS Matchday 27 fixture against Columbus Crew next Monday.
