With the Ballon d’Or ceremony approaching, several major names are being discussed as potential contenders for the prestigious award, including Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, Barcelona star Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.
Yamal recently shared his views on the criteria for winning the Ballon d’Or, arguing that the award should go to the best player rather than simply the footballer who scores 80 goals.
Kane has now responded to the Barcelona youngster’s comments in an interview with The Standard.
“Everyone is free to do what they feel is appropriate in this situation,” Kane said.
The Bayern Munich striker added that he personally prefers not to speak about himself in that manner, while expressing pride in his achievements.
“Personally, I don’t tend to talk about myself in that way. I’m always proud of what I’ve achieved, and fundamentally, I know my numbers last year were on a par with any other player’s, so I don’t want to deny that,” he explained.
Kane also discussed his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, leaving the final decision in the hands of the voters.
“From my point of view, winning the award would be amazing, and I would feel very proud if it happened,” he said.
He concluded by expressing confidence in his chances while acknowledging that the outcome remains uncertain.
“I think I have every chance of winning, without a doubt. Time will tell, and the voters will choose who they want,” Kane stated.
